Thanks for the warm welcome, Sandy.

Locked in my dorm room due to Sandy, with nothing to do, until I realized:

"I'm FINALLY in New York. I can officially start my blog!" And what better a way to start it off than right in the middle of a hurricane.

Well, Manhattan, I'm here. Living on the lovely and surprisingly- friendly Upper West Side, I can now call myself a New Yorker [gushes with excitement]! It's only been two weeks officially (and what a crazy two weeks it has been, but I'm here and I'm loving it. As of right now, the UWS hasn't been hit too bad. Luckily, I'm far enough up the island where I do not have to worry about major flooding or the crazy waves or anything too drastic. These photos are from earlier today when I was running around trying to get last minute supplies in case anything does actually happen. Even the Starbucks were closed! And if you haven't heard, New Yorkers are NOT taking this storm lightly. Grocery stores here are left barren and shelf are naked. Towards the end, I think people were just picking up anything without an expiration date.

Hopefully everyone is staying safe and busy like me indoors! Being trapped indoors was actually a blessing, because now I can officially kick-start my blog! Yay! Much, MUCH more to come so stay safe, New Yorkers!

Managing the Subways Without a Map?

So I've recently been going through my bedroom, trying to clean out all the junk I won't be taking to New York with me and I came across this NYC- themed charm bracelet. I mean, sitting there underneath all these other old costume jewelry pieces was this incredible vintage- looking bracelet that I haven't seen in years! The only problem was...I could not, for the life of me, remember where I got it from! To me, this bracelet WAS vintage. So I got on Google, as I do for all my questions and curiosities, and started to search for NYC- themed charm bracelets and bam- there was the bracelet on Google Images. So where did it say the bracelet was from? Of all places...Target! Part of the 2006 Behnaz Sarafpour For Target Collection, I've had this bracelet for 6 years!

I guess New York's been in my blood since the beginning....

The next bracelet on my list? This adorable Subway Cuff Bracelet. For the New York newbies, this will surely come in handy...but why not for those NY veterans too?  Instead of pulling out that giant subway map and looking like a tourist, do it the chic way- right on your arm!

Day One: Rainy Days and Blog Beginnings

I have to say, I love the rain. I just love it. Why? Because it's one of the only times I can pull out my most eccentric pair of shoes: rain boots. I love how rain boots are always so crazy and colorful- what a way to brighten up these rainy days! Today in Buffalo it rained like crazy...so I thought what better than to put on the craziest rain boots I own! These boots are special edition (and a special graduation gift to me).

Shoes: MacKenzie-Childs Courtly Check Hunter Rain Boots
Coat: Steve Madden Coral Rain Coat

Here's a close up of the boots....how cute!
